Botswana retains Africa’s best safari country title

03 Dec 2019

Botswana was named the best country for safari 2019 for the second consecutive year.

Safaris in Africa were looked at by SafariBookings, by analysing customer reviews as well as those by travel journalists. A number of those who took part in examining the reviews had previously worked with Lonely Planet and Rough gates.

The process to determine the ranking was done by closely analysing the best reviews. SafariBookings strives to point out the best safaris from the industry – and may also ask other countries to help if the there is a close result.

SafariBookings said, “It’s an understandable result given the unforgettable wildlife-viewing in Botswana, a country that epitomises luxury in the bush and exclusive safari experiences. The Okavango Delta is an iconic name as is the Kalahari Desert – these are big draw-cards for visitors, and both certainly live up to their safari-legend status.”

Guests praised the wildlife experience as well as the exclusive, luxury safari trips that Botswana offers. The websites explained, ““A closer analysis of the results throws up a surprise: when broken down the results tell us that the industry experts rated Botswana the highest, but that there was a preference for Zimbabwe amongst safari-goers.”

Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Kenya ranked in second, third, fourth and fifth respectively.
